Parents and guardians,
We have passed the official halfway point of the year - wow! Quarter two report cards will go home on Thursday, February 4, but we are officially in quarter three and in our geometry unit right now. Geometry is a visual topic which can be interesting and fun for students. I've already seen some kids excel in this topic who've had trouble with traditional math in the past. It's also easier to make geometry "hands on" - quite a change from the equations we were working on before!
The next quiz (and the first one of quarter three) is schedule for the Friday before February break. A reminder that I am now available after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays (previously Tuesdays and Thursdays). I'm also available for extra help Wednesdays during lunch.
What you can do at home: Ask your child about pi. One of the most famous numbers in the world. They should know it's approximate numerical value and where it appears around us in our universe. Here is an interesting video on the number: A Mile of Pi.
