Mid-November Update (sent Nov 14)

Parents and guardians,

Please allow me to give you a quick update on our math class.  We have been working in "one-step equations" and moved to "two-step equations" today (Monday).  This is a very important skill for students to learn as they will utilize it to solve complex problems in their math classes for years to come.  I encourage students to seek the extra help available if needed.  Here are my next after school help days: Nov 14, Nov 16, Nov 22, Nov 28, Nov 29, Dec 5, Dec 6, Dec 12, Dec 13, Dec 19, Dec 20.

Other recent classroom activities:

-A quarter reflection was completed in which students expressed their thoughts on their performance in math class so far

-A math lesson on the presidential election results involving percents and graphs

-Updating of math portfolios with recent quizzes and quiz corrections completed by students

-A discussion on study habits and basic brain science to promote metacognition in students

On another note, I have received word that parents will get their SchoolBrains log in information on or around this Thursday, Nov 17.  Thus, quarter two grades will be posted to SchoolBrains instead of Edmodo starting this week.  Fingers crossed for a smooth transition.

Lastly, quarter one report cards go home today!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
Ms. Vila
