Chapter Thirteen (Almost)

Parents and guardians,

As you may know, students took the chapter 12 test today.  Scores will be up on Edmodo by Friday the latest.  We will begin chapter 13 tomorrow - no 'between chapters special lesson' - to ensure we have enough time in quarter four to cover the last four chapters and the big final exam.

Chapter 13 is on graphing and writing linear equations. Students got a little taste of linear equations in a few of the previous chapters this year. That said, I do recall chapter 13 giving students a bit more trouble than most. It is heavy on algebraic manipulation and we will continue to move quickly, of course. I will speak to students about this so they are prepared to stay focused and continue to ask great questions in class and in after-school help sessions.

As a side-note reminder, the PARCC math test has been scheduled for May 17, 18, and 19 for our team. The ELA PARCC is scheduled two weeks earlier on May 3, 4, and 5.

What you can do at home: Hit "reply" and drop me a note if we haven't spoken yet this year. I would love to hear from you! You would also be helping me with my "100% household communication goal" (outside of these updates) for the year :)

Thank you for your support at home,
Ms.Vila
