Mid Chapter 7

Hello Accelerated Math Class Parents and Guardians,

First, I'd like to apologize on behalf of the team for any tardy email replies, Edmodo posts, or classroom updates (like this one!) because, as you may have heard, the district had a few weeks with limited to no internet access.  We are so happy that the internet is back to normal now!

In class, we're in the middle of chapter seven.  Chapter seven is all about angles and polygons and we had some fun today using protractors to create specific angles and shapes.  The kids discovered that it was much more difficult than expected!  The chapter test is scheduled for Wednesday, January 6 as of today.

Progress reports come home on Monday, Dec 21. As a reminder, here is the key I use when inputting progress report grades:
S - Satisfactory - means the student has at least an 80% average (A or B grade)
NI - Needs Improvement - means your child is in the 70-79% range (C grade)
U - Unsatisfactory - means your child's average is less than 70% (D or F grade)

What you can do at home: Know anything about interest rates? Talk to your child about it! This topic came up in chapter six and I was able to answer most, but not all, of their really good questions. Questions were related to mortgages, credit cards, and my personal area of expertise: student loans.

Thanks for reading and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns,
Ms. Vila
