New Gradebook Entry

Parents and guardians,

Allow me to provide a quick math update with a few things I'd like you to know.

First, here are the math after school help days until April vacation:
March 1, 7, 9, 14, 16, 20, 22, 27, & 28
April 4, 5, 10, & 11

Secondly, I'm happy to introduce our new classroom "Challenge Board" - I'll use this space to provide weekly optional math challenges for those who are interested.  I hope this will provide students with even more math fun.

Lastly, some have noticed a new assignment in the SchoolBrains math gradebook.  This assignment is entitled "Two Review Questions" and is worth two points (quizzes are worth 100).  Now that we are well into third quarter I put two review questions at the end of the last math quiz.  Those questions did not affect the quiz grade but were placed into SchoolBrains as that separate assignment.  Since it's only worth two points, the affect on the child's overall term grade is very small. The top reason it's in SchoolBrains is to communicate your child's performance on those review questions to you.  Some students do very well on week-to-week quizzes but may not retain the information as well over time.  I believe it's important to keep track of this retention.

That's it for now.  As always, please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.  Thank you!
Ms. Vila
